Run for your dear life from excess belly fat!
Excess belly fat secretes substances and hormones into your bloodstream that can lead to heart conditions and other health problems. One of the substances it secretes is called “Retinol-binding Protein 4 (RBP4)” (I know you blanked at that word 😂 not to worry) and this substance is high levels cause “Insulin Resistance” (this is the important point).
Insulin is a hormone your pancreas makes to allow your body to absorb and use glucose for energy. With insulin resistance, your body is unable to use insulin effectively to absorb glucose thereby increasing the level of sugar build-up in your blood.
High level of blood sugar is what is referred to as “Diabetes”. You can see the link between that excess belly fat you think doesn’t really matter…after all something must kill a man…and diabetes.
The World Health Organization says that in 2019, diabetes was the direct cause of 1.5 million deaths. According to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States.
Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves.
You don’t have to be overweight or obese to face these risks if you harbour excess fat inside your abdomen. One of the most common causes of excess belly fat is poor nutrition.
